Why you'd need a Mac after you got an iPad

I've always been a Windows user but here's why I think you'd need a Mac after you got yourself an iPad. A Mac is a general term I used to refer to any Apple computers that is running the Mac OS X.

1) iTunes runs faster on the Mac
It happens to iTunes 10 and all other previous versions I've used before but iTunes seems to run faster on the Mac. Don't believe me, try scrolling the vertical scrollbar when one of your iDevices (iPad, iPod, etc.) is connected. On the Mac, scrolling and switching from one part to another is a breeze. On the Windows, the lag is pretty obvious. Speed or quick response is crucial in my opinion.

2) Images are not sorted the way you wanted in the Photos app in iPad - or iPhoto integrates well with your iPad
I would usually rename my images alphabetically and/or using numeric sequence to arrange my images. However, when these images are synced to the Photos app, they are not displayed in the order I desired. With iPhoto that comes bundled with the OS X in all new Macs these days, you can create "albums" in the iPhoto application and arrange your images the way you wanted. When synced with iTunes, the images are displayed orderly in the Photos app.

3) iOS SDK runs only on the Mac
Perhaps this may not be relevant to every users but if you ever wanted to develop any apps for your iPad, you'd definitely need to have the iOS SDK (software development kit) that runs only on the Mac.

Are these three reasons good enough to justify why I should get myself the new 27" iMac with Turbo Boosting Intel Core i5? ;)

How to link your Tweets to your Facebook status with #fb

I'll skip the differences and benefits of tweeting and updating your status in Facebook. Here's a simple process of activating an App in your Facebook account so that when you post your tweets, you can selectively decide which one updates your Facebook status as well.

There are a lot of Twitter apps for Facebook available but the one that I like particularly is called Selective Tweets. It's confusing to all your Facebook friends if all your tweets are updated in your Facebook status. So, Selective Tweets allows you to just place a tag #fb so that the desired tweet is posted to your status.

What you need
1. An active Facebook account.
2. An active Twitter account.

Step-by-step
1. Log into your Facebook account (facebook.com).
2. Search for the Twitter app by entering "selective twitter" in the search field at the top of the Facebook Web page.
3. In the Selective Tweets page click the <Go to Application> button.

Alternatively, you can skip step 2 and 3 by entering the following URL: apps.facebook.com/selectivetwitter

In the Selective Tweet Status page;
4. In [Your Profile] tab, enter your Twitter username in the @field. Click <Save>.

5. Click the [Settings] tab. Check on the "Allow the #fb tag anywhere in the tweet?". Click <Save Changes>.

Once you got that, you are all done. Now, log into your Twitter account and start posting your tweets. Remember to mark with #fb.

Thanks to Andy Young @andyy for making this possible.

Enjoy.
